Course Schedule
Day 1
Lecture with Clinical Application
Anatomy of Maxilla and Mandible, Vascular Supply, Muscle Attachments, Vital Structures in Relation to Maxilla and Mandible.
Cadaveric Exercise
The faculty explains the surgical anatomy on a cadaver, this ensures a highly stimulated understanding of the topic.
Day 2
Lecture with Clinical Application
Buttresses in Maxilla and mandible, Impact of Force on Maxilla and Mandible, Bio Mechanism of Rotation of Fractured Segment.
Clinical Features of Maxillary & Mandibular Fractures.
Extra Oral & Intra Oral Palpation Maxillary Fractures and Mandibular Fractures, Types of radiographs for fracture identification and their inference, Planning of appropriate surgical approach (Closed or Open Reduction), Surgical Approaches to the Fracture Lines
Day 3
Lecture with Clinical Application
Closed Reduction (IMF and its types), Open Reduction (Non Rigid/ Semi Rigid/ Rigid Fixation), Types of Fixation systems and their Function in fracture fixation.
Closed Reduction (Suspension Wiring), Open Reduction (Non Rigid/ Semi Rigid/ Rigid Fixation), Types of Fixation systems and their Function in fracture fixation.
Pre-Clinical Exercise
Mini Plate fixation, 3 - D Plates
Mini Plate fixation, Lag Screw, 3 - D Plates
Day 4 Onwards
The participants will observe 4 trauma cases in the course duration.
